Micky Dolenz - Don't Do It (1965)

Here's a 45 that Micky Dolenz recorded in L.A. a few months prior to being cast in
The Monkees, the role that would change his life.

As it turned out, it wasn't until 1967, near the height of 'Monkeemania', that Challenge saw fit to actually release the single, cashing in on Micky's fame.

Though displaying a very similar feel to his Monkee's material, the double entendre aspects of the solo Dolenz song lyrics set this release apart just a bit from the somewhat more TV-friendly recordings.

Mr. Dolenz was already a mediocre TV star, as he was in the series "Circus Boy". But, yes, he was a huge success as The "wild" Monkee...

Hey Timmy - -

Yeah, but 'Circus Boy' had ended around 1957, and I think that Micky really didn't get much work in between.

That's about an 8 year stint as a 'Whatever Happened To - - ' former-child-star...

A good point to mention, however. Thanks!
